Lovely birds around our house

We are really enjoying watching the birds above our carport. The green birds are making a big mess dropping plums all over the ground. They are really noisy as well. Lucky they are neat to watch. Wayne took these photos earlier this morning.

Images of Christmas

We had a lovely Christmas yesterday. The day was made more enjoyable with lovely colourful parrots in our tree just outside the back door.

Owen and his friend David came for dinner, Wayne took them out and showed them how to prospect for gold and they tried to spot some Kangaroos but it was too early and there were none about. The kids loved all their presents and were kept happy playing with them all day. The kids and I went for a walk around the lake, followed by a play on the playground after lunch, to give them a chance to get out of the house and burn off some steam.

All ready for school

We had a bit of a try on and a photo shoot today. Emily has been having transition days at school on Wednesdays and she has orientation day coming up on Tuesday. Orientation day is a day where everybody goes into their next years class for the day. Natasha will try her Grade Two class and find out who her teacher will be for next year. Grade 6 kids have a day at High School etc etc. I think it's a great idea as it gets the kids all keen for next year. (Hopefully)

Yummy Yabbies

We had our first of many (we hope) yabbie feasts tonight. They taste very similar to crayfish. Here is a photo of them in the sink.

Tap Dancing Emily

Here is Em in her costume. She is tap dancing to "Rubber Duckie, you're the one" in this outfit. She is on stage at The Capital Theatre on the 24th November. She is also dancing in a ballet number and Natasha is "doing the Locomotion" in the same concert. I will post more costume photos when I catch them at home in their makeup.

Cousins catch up at Melbourne Airport

We had a lovely afternoon today with Jenny and Stacey as they had a 6 hour stopover in Melbourne Airport. The kids just picked up where they left off and started talking and playing together. Rhys was impressed to have a cousin. Jenny and I enjoyed a wine while the kids watched planes out this window.

Swan Hill Region

Today the five of us headed up to the Swan Hill Region. We went to a Pioneer Village museum which is on the Murray River and the border to NSW. It's about a two hour drive from our house in Bendigo. The Pioneer Village was very interesting with people dressed in Pioneer costumes actually serving in some of the old fashioned shops. I took a photo of the blacksmith as he was making a minature horseshoe for Em and Tash. On the way home we stopped at Lake Boga which had a partly restored Catalina to look at. Swan Hill Township had a giant Murray Cod which we persuaded the kids to sit in it's mouth. Emily was a bit worried and squirmy and Rhys just refused. Here are the photos...

Melbourne Zoo

We took the very fast train to Melbourne yesterday to visit the zoo. We had to change trains at Southern Cross Station and catch a Met train to Royal Park Station where the zoo is situated. It was amazingly easy to find out about and to catch the second train. We only had to wait one minute.

The Zoo was great, It took us from 10.00am until about 3.30pm to explore the whole zoo and we still managed to miss seeing some animals and attractions. Highlights for us were the Orangatans posing for our photos, a baby monkey swinging around the jungle gym, a butterfly landing on Natasha's head and of course the Meerkats.

Lower points of the day were being dropped on by a seagull while having lunch and having to stand in the train on the way home for over an hour.

On the whole it was a great day and the kids slept very well last night.

Rainbow Magic Fairy Funday

Our two little fairies enjoyed funday at the library this morning. Here are the photos. You may be able to tell that Em's hair is shorter now.

Mission Impossible

Natasha performed in her school production tonight. She slid out of a helicopter and raced around the stage as part of the MI Team. She had some pretty cool dance moves.

The last photo is the teachers item. They did the Time Warp! The principal is the one in the pink Mohawk and Natasha's teacher has long blonde hair and a top hat in the background. All in all it was a great night's entertainment and Rhys enjoyed it as much as the adults. Hard to believe that Em will be up there with them next year.

Crazy Hair Day at Kindy

Emily enjoyed Crazy Hair day at Kinder today. They brought in Happy Meals from MacDonalds for all the kids and it was just a kids kinda day.

Rhy's big boy haircut

Rhys enjoyed having his haircut yesterday. The hairdresser gave him the squirty bottle to play with and he happily squirted his mirror the whole time.

Here's a photo of our grown up boy.

Dress ups and Mud Pies

What a lovely way to spend the morning! Natasha went to Eloise's place to play and it was so great that we all stayed. As we all know kids love mud.

Moon photography

Wayne and I tried some moon photography last night. I think we need a tripod. Very impressed with the zoom on the camera though.

Why a cat doesn't make a good toilet roll holder

Our cat was not amused when we tried to put toilet rolls on all of his arms. I wonder why not...

Tasha Impressions

I think that Natasha looks like the girl on the TimTam advert. What do you think?
